Listen before drawing
The strongest ideas begin with the property, the architecture, and how you want to live outside.
Start a Project Our story · Our point of view
Sage was built around a simple belief: an outdoor environment should feel deeply connected to its setting, its architecture, and the people who live there.

The idea behind Sage
For more than 27 years—first in the field, then at the drafting table—Sage principal Nathan Masters has shaped landscapes around the practical realities of how plants mature, how water moves, how materials weather, and how outdoor spaces are actually used.
That horticultural foundation is paired with a complete design perspective. Rather than treating the pool, planting, hardscape, irrigation, lighting, audio, and structures as separate decisions, Sage brings them together in one clear vision.
More than a name
Why Sage
Sage speaks to the qualities we bring to every property: seasoned judgment, horticultural knowledge, and the wisdom to see how every decision affects the whole. It also reflects our connection to living landscapes—environments that establish, mature, and become more meaningful over time.
What we bring to the table is perspective. We help clients look beyond isolated features and short-term choices, align priorities with a realistic plan, and move forward with one coordinated vision from consultation and budgeting through design and installation.

Meet the principal
A Sarasota native with more than 27 years in Florida's landscape and horticultural industry, Nathan brings field-grounded knowledge, design judgment, and a deeply local understanding of Gulf Coast properties to every Sage engagement.
Clients come to Sage for more than a drawing. They come for experienced guidance through complex choices—what belongs, what performs, what adds lasting value, and what should be resolved before construction begins.
“Every decision should contribute to one outdoor experience—not compete with it.”See our design process
How we work
The strongest ideas begin with the property, the architecture, and how you want to live outside.
Planting, water, structure, circulation, lighting, sound, and materials are considered as one composition.
Clear planning and coordinated installation keep the approved design intact from first concept through completion.
Rooted on Florida's Gulf Coast
Heat, salt, wind, intense rain, sandy soils, and year-round outdoor living all shape the work. Sage designs with those conditions in mind, creating landscapes that feel generous and refined while remaining grounded in the realities of the Gulf Coast.
