A dated backyard becomes a private, Bali-inspired retreat—uniting pool and spa, cabana, outdoor kitchen, tropical planting and purposeful lighting within one coordinated vision.
Project summary
The transformation begins with the relationships that matter most: how the home opens to the yard, how people move between water and gathering spaces, where shade is needed, and how the landscape frames the experience.
Four Medjool date palms establish structure and scale around the new environment, while layered tropical planting softens the architecture and creates the immersive character of a private resort. Lighting is integrated from the beginning—focused on safety, architecture, specimen plantings and water rather than decorative clutter.

An undersized, dated pool and basic deck left the property without a strong connection between the home, landscape and outdoor lifestyle.

The proposed pool, deck, cabana and outdoor-kitchen relationships are reviewed at full scale with the homeowners before construction begins.

With the pool, hardscape and cabana complete, four Medjool date palms and layered tropical planting begin to establish the final composition.

Narrow-beam palm uplighting, specimen accents, step and path illumination, subtle pool lighting and cabana task lighting shape the nighttime experience.

The final daytime view brings the pool, spa, cabana, outdoor kitchen, deck and tropical landscape together as one Bali-inspired private retreat.
